Specialized Training

The Individual Specialized Training Program

Goal:       To provide individualized training to TUFC members.
Scope:    An eight week program which focuses on two critical components of soccer:
1)      Fitness: Movement components
2)      Technical skills training
Structure:
Training sessions are broken down into three areas:
1.       Group warm up/ focusing on mechanics of running, soccer style running, forward,
backwards and sideways. Flexibility and increasing range of motion.

2.       Soccer agility activities with and without a ball, including use of different parts of the body, in controlling the ball, change of direction, change of speed. Pattern Training, learning to control the ball in specialized sequences in a repetitive mode.

3.       Individual skill stations including:
·         Goalkeeping
·         Striking the ball/finishing
·         1v1 play offense and defense
·         Heading-Offense and defense
·         Dribbling
·         Control and juggling
Activities are designed to be able to e replicated at home by the players.
For the benefit of the players and parents emphasis must be placed on:
1.       Correct technique: particularly playing with our head up when receiving, dribbling and passing. Keeping our head down when we defend 1v1 and shooting.
2.        Training at game speed. Once an activity has been introduced we need to repeat it at the speed we play the game. This provides realistic training.
3.       Learning, ultimate learning takes place when a player demonstrates a skill under pressure in a game situation.
4.       Positive reinforcement, players learn from their mistakes but also learn from correct successful technique. ‘Catch players doing things correctly’
5.       The keys for teaching students are a) observation b) analyze and c) correction.

In order for students to succeed in any endeavor consistent, correct training is the foundation.

The individual specialized training program is another opportunity for your student to improve their ‘Soccer Game’.
